Top wideouts in the draft

Postby DeadRinger » Sun Jan 12, 2020 1:12 pm

There are 4 blue chip guys in this draft. If any of these guys is still there at 12, we have to take him. If they’re all gone, Which I SERIOUSLY doubt, we need to go BPA and Trade down from 19 to take a tier 2 WR later.

In order of bad-ass-ness:

Jerry Jeudy - AL. I saw this kid play several times. Fast and smooth, great routes. Good size, great hands. Already a pro receiver. 6’1”, 192 lbs. Had a down year this season with 1163 yds, 10 TDs

CeeDee Lamb - Oklahoma. Good size, fast, great production, got better every year. 6’2”, 191 lbs. 1327 yds, 14 TDs

Henry Ruggs - AL. I saw this kid play several times. Big time speed demon. Tore the top off the D and fights for the ball. Good hands for a speedster. Took a lot of attention away from Jeudy. Not as big as the others but not small. 6’0”, 190. Not as prolific because his team literally had FOUR GREAT WRs. 746 yds, 7 TDs. Reminds me of Martavis Bryant without any of the baggage.

Tee Higgins - Clemson. Big target, quick and prolific. 6’4”, 216 lbs. 1115 yds, 13 TDs.

I'd love to get CeeDee Lang, but I doubt he will be there at 12.... unless we wheel and deal. Jeudy is another Bama WR that played really well, but..................... I'd take him with a bit of trepidation just because of that. The Raiders don't seem to have much luck with Bama players.

Whatever guy we get, I'm sure it'll be the right pick so long as Mayock is the one doing the picking. He'll do the background work and select a top notch receiver.
On one hand I'd l9ve our very own Tyreek Hill in Henry Ruggs III, but the other top 2 guys seem a little better as of today. Hopefully they all accept the combine invite but I doubt it.

I think any one of those 4 guys would be an outstanding pick for us. We'd just have to use each of them a bit differently. So it all depends on how many of them are sitting there.

Of course, who knows? Mayock may be thinking a different position altogether at 12. He may be looking for more pass rush.

After all, we desperately need LBs at every position, we could use a 4-3 OLB who can get after the QB. But I don't think Mayock would spend our #12 on a guy like that. Because in our 4-3, pass rush wouldn't be the primary role for our OLBs. So you can get those guys later.

Personally, I'd take the best of those 4 WRs.

And then at 19, if there were any of those 4 still left on the bard, I'D TAKE HIM TOO!!

Two stud WRs in the 1st round. Sayyyy... CeeDee Lamb AND Tee Higgins. Fuck yes, that puts an exclamation point on things.

And why not? We have the cap space to load the defense up with studs, plus rounds 2 and 3.

THEN, if Carr can't get it done with those weapons in 2020, we eject the fucker, draft his replacement and drop our 1srt round rookie into a massively explosive offense in 2021.

There's your 2020 WR corps:

CeeDee Lamb / Tee Higgins / Tyrell Williams / Hunter Renfrow / Marcell Ateman / Keelan Doss

I also love Justin Jefferson of LSU and Davonta Smith of AL. Jefferson I might worry about a little bit just because he had Burrow throwing him pinpoint strikes all season long.

This draft is full of badasses at WR. We can get 2 righteous guys if Mayock works it right.

I was gonna mention possibly drafting two WRs but you beat me to the punch. I would honestly be totally up for it but at this point I'm thinking Mayock may choose defense but you never know.
On one hand, we get tje best two WR in the draft, on the other it makes you think of the other guy's lack of touches.
What about Waller, Renfrow, healthy Tyrell Williams?
I was hoping to throw the ball a little more to Josh Jacobs also, and let's not forget about Foster Moreau.
Lets flip it and go top two defenders for a sec.
What about going top two linebackers in Simmons and Kenneth Murray.
Instant defense!
I'd rather go offense and try and win a shoot out with KC...who will probably win the superbowl.

I agree. Look at KC, look at BAL. Look at NO and GB. TEN wasn't shit until Tannehill came in and started playing like Brady.

It's all about an explosive offense. Look at NE. They had one of the best D's in the league this season, but their offense fell way down. And they got bounced in the 1st round.

Then look at KC. Explosive offense, average D. Probably going to the SB.

We need to get this team into the modern era. It's all about putting up 30-40 points. In fact, in week 17, HALF the teams that won scored more than 30 points.

And we're so close on O that we only need to add a couple serious playmakers to do it. Now, we can go FA and add Robby Anderson and then add CeeDee Lamb. I like Robby Anderson, I think he hasn't reached his full potential yet. BUT, PFF ranked him #61 this season. Much like Tyrell Williams, he's not a legit #1.

In case you're wondering, Hunter Renfrow was ranked #22 and Tyrell Williams was ranked #70.

I wouldn't worry too much about who's going to get enough balls based on how much Carr struggled to get ANYONE the ball this past season. I say we double up on our strength and then patch up our weakness. It's not like we'd be IGNORING our D if we spend both 1st round picks on WRs. There's a TON of money and picks left over to blow on D.

And this could be a really good draft to spend both 1st round picks on WRs. OR possibly our #12 and then our 2nd rounder on Justin Jefferson or Davonta Smith.
