Take a look at numbers 2-5 on this list of greatest CBs of all time. All former Raiders.

There are a couple more sprinkled in the later numbers as well.

We own this list, which is exactly the way it SHOULD be.

Lester Hayes should be ahead of a BUNCH of guys that Gil lists as better than him, but that's the only thing I'd pick on.

Gil Brandt is an old fuck!!! Lester Hayes has to be top 5 all time cover corner in this league. His knock was using stick'em which wasn't banned his first 4 or 5 years. The HOF has displayed their hatred of the Raiders over the years with under rating top notch Raider players from that era back than. Raiders from 73' to 80' went to six AFC championships and two Super bowls. They were as good as Dallas and Pittsburgh pound for pound and those franchises get more respect. Cliff Branch and Dave Dalby were on all 3 Raider SB teams and Lester was on 2 of those SB teams and were top 5 at their position for at least a decade and you hear nothing about these three guys getting in the Hall of Shame. Stabler shoukd of been in 25 fuckin yrs ago. They waited until he died to put him in. Mickey Marvin and ole linemen for the Raiders from that era who just died was Hall worthy, same with Henry Lawrence OL from those days. Shell and Upshaw set the bar high so these guys were overlooked by the NFL media but those guys were durable and very good.

Agreed on every count. Unheard-of!

One thing you don't mention is the fact that, to this day, Plunkett remains the only QB to ever win 2 or more SBs, and NOT be in the HOF. Not to mention that he was MVP of one of those SBs. Now, I don't think Plunkett's career stats necessarily put him in the hall, but 2 SB wins, a SB MVP and a Comeback PoY should put ANY QB in the Hall IMO. That's not something game-manager SB winners like Brad Johnson or a lame tandem like Banks/Dilfer will EVER manage to pull off.

Whether they like it or not, Plunkett is a prominent piece of the league's history. He should be in the Hall IMO.

Hall voters and NFL establishment hated Big Al...thats why Madden took forever to get in as well as Stabler and the fact Flores and Plunkett aren't considered and some others..Raiders were the only dominant franchise from the start of the merger in 70' to win Super Bowls in the 80's....Steelers Cowboys dolphins and Vikings didn't...Redskins won 2 in the 80's but weren't a dominant force in the 70's like those other franchises.
