Why not get Schaub win some games now and next year, build the morale of the team and fanbase and develop guys behind Schaub and some of the other veteran positions we acquired in free agency. RM needs to win games this year and he knows it.

Jesus man, now you want to flush the ENTIRE philosophy that has had us sucking ass for 2 seasons. You praise him for his intial philosophies, thinking he's the anti-Al, then you praise him when he ditches it and signs a bunch of old fuckers JUST LIKE AL USED TO DO!!

You Reggie guys are serious contortionists. Doesn't matter what he does, it's always the right thing!

When we sign Jared Allen and Desean Jackson by Monday, we are going to the playoffs this year, so who gives a fuck about philosophy!! Just win baby!

Then what was the point of the last two seasons?! The Raiders would've very likely went into the playoffs starting two years ago, maybe very deep, if RM just kept Jackson and that offense in tact..

If Reggie signs both Jackson and Allen by some miracle (no way that happens IMO), that puts him in a great position to trade down and maybe get the best DT or maybe Eric Ebron later in the first round.

Assuming he still doesn't give a shit about the future come draft time, that's what I could see him doing.

Of course, if he does care about the future he will look at all his signings and see they're ancient, and start drafting to fill the more critical spots that will be vacated after a season or 2. A guy like Matthews, Mack or Watkins would make more sense for the organization. Or he could still trade down and get Clinton-Dix to sit behind Woodson.

Since I'm against picking OLs in the top half of the first round, I think I'd have to go with the pass rush. Mack could have an impact in 2014 as well, particularly if one or two of our new antique defenders goes down.

But there's no way this is happening, so this speculation is moot.

BETTER be a playoff win in 2022.

What about if Al kept Gruden, Raiders would have had a SB title and probably wouldn't have had all these losing seasons

Gruden was on his way out - Davis wisely got something in return. Of course, it would've been better had Gruden wanted to stay, but Gruden apparently desired more than to be a great coach.
